Total time: 30 min

Ingredients:

Instructions:

For the apple lard with onions cut the bacon into small cubes. Finely chop the onion, peel the apple and cut into small pieces. Mix water with milk, then slowly render the bacon with the water-milk mixture in a pan, stirring frequently.

When the grammels (cracklings) start to take color, drain them through a sieve and put them aside. Likewise the fat. Pour a ladleful of the hot fat into an extra pan and brown the onion in it, then add the apple and let it melt. Stir the grams, onion and apple together into the cooled fat, add a little salt and pour the apple lard with onions into glasses.

Preparation Tip:

If the fat is too hot or liquid, everything settles and you have to stir more often. However, if you stir it right into the lukewarm but not liquid fat, this is unnecessary.
