For the semolina dumplings, boil milk with cinnamon and cloves, let the spices steep and then remove. Add butter, vanilla sugar, sugar and salt, boil milk again. Sift in semolina and cook, stirring diligently, for 4 minutes. Remove from heat and let swell, covered, for 6 minutes.
