For the marble cake, separate the eggs. Beat the egg whites until stiff. Beat the yolks, powdered sugar, margarine, vanilla sugar and rum until foamy.

Sift flour and baking powder and stir into the yolk mixture with the milk. Divide the dough in half and fold half beaten egg whites into the 1st half.

Stir cocoa into the 2nd half of the dough and fold in the remaining beaten egg whites. Grease and flour baking pan (35 x 25 cm, approx. 5 cm high) and spread light and dark batter alternately.

Bake marble cake at 180 degrees for about 50 minutes. Cool and cut into pieces.

Preparation Tip:

This marble cake mixture is enough for a large Gugelhupf.
