Rinse and drain the sloes well before freezing!

Fill the sloes with the rock candy and the sliced vanilla pod in a large bottle and pour on rum. Leave to stand for at least 8 to 10 weeks, shaking occasionally until the rock candy has dissolved.

Now filter and fill into bottles, close well and rest for a while.

Tip: The recipe also works with brown candy and a cinnamon stick.

But always remember the winter is long, that double recipe is just as not too much!!!
